Profiles of 11 additional servicemen to be remembered on the war memorial
Hi everyone, earlier this year I started a new thread entitled “Adding ‘missing’ names to the war memorial: To do or to not do!”
To view or revisit this thread please click here.
In summary it was proposed that the names of 15 additional servicemen from Sutton who lost their lives during, or as a result of the Great War be added to the village war memorial. The number of names has since been scaled back to 11 due to a lack of substantive evidence qualifying 4 of them for inclusion onto the memorial.
Profiles of the 11 additional servicemen to be remembered on the village memorial can now be viewed, please click here.
The purpose of this thread is to check that there is still general support from the community of Sutton for this project to go ahead and to try and establish if there are yet more missing names of ‘Fallen’ servicemen or servicewomen to be added to the memorial. If anybody knows of any, please yell out!
We have approximately six months to finalise the numbers, currently standing at 11. After that from the beginning of December the new name plaques will be produced and affixed to the current memorial in time for the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WW1 on the 4th August 2014 |
