History
I am researching the history of the Hesleton family, farmers, who lived in Bentham.William Hesleton kept a daily diary from 1920 to 1946 recording farm sales, births, marriages and deaths, the farming year and lots of interesting facts. He mentioned his Aunt Kate who died on 6th June, 1935 and was buried at Sutton-in-Craven on 10th June. I have no other information about Kate but William was 63 when she died. Can anyone shed any light on who Kate was please? |

Hi there, I have indexed the gravestones at St Thomas's Church and have checked these for the Hesleton surname which Im afraid doesn't appear in the index. Josie |

Thanks for looking re Kate or Catherine, died 06.06.1935. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I'm not a technophobe (!) - still getting around this computer. I'm still doing the Hesleton Diaries. Kate was probably married so I wouldn't know her married name. Never mind. Thanks again |

Josie, What a wonder the internet is! Many thanks for your efforts which are greatly appreciated. William Hesleton had a house in Sutton (mentioned in his will). As he didn't die until 1945 I think it might have been the one belonging to his Aunt Kate. Kate was his mother's sister. I would love to have copies of their probate details and will reimburse you if necessary, or you could send them by e-mail as you suggest. I'm away from Wednesday next for a week so if you send anything I won't be able to reply until Monday, 18th July.
Thanks again. Peter |
