Lack of activity
Has Sutton gone to sleep? Nearly three weeks since anything new appeared on the website. Whilst I am on the subject, has anyone heard from the Australian branch recently? Brenda Whitaker and David Laycock are not contacting the site along with young Monkhouse. Have they all withdrawn? Is it the pandemic that is causing it? |

It appears the site has been relegated to a quiet Internet backwater.

I have been in contact with my cousin David Laycock recently. He is currently under lockdown in Melbourne but I am sure he will be monitoring the Sutton website. |

Not to worry Allan . I keep an eye on what's happening and I recently checked the Bairstow film out, couldn't see my Dad, I doubt if he would have been up in the front row, I see one young Monkhouse was! As John said we are under martial law here in Victoria, or it seems like it!!! Them up there in Queensland are lucky they don't have a Premier like we have, useless, could have prevented a lot of problems, if he had accepted the Federal help of the medical members of the armed forces as did most other States, instead of using ill trained so called security, and who also shut their boarders quick smart! Now he is trying to blame everybody else! I keep in touch with Brenda on Face book. |

Thanks for the update David and the news that Brenda is ok. I think about both of you many times especially when on the Sutton website. To think that we are so far apart and yet can still be in touch within a split second is something I never ever thought about. Take care all |

Hello Alan,
Greetings from France where Alan and I are both well. We were on lockdown in March April but could go shopping as long as we wore masks and filled in a form to say where we were going and the time we left home.
We live in a country district so C Virus was not a problem. Then our neighbours intervened and between them brought our shopping. We have a big garden so that keeps us
I last heard from Brenda at Christmas but must email her again. Best wishes Jane Chatterton

A quick hello to those who are missing some of the ex-Suttoners. We are alive and well in Queensland - coping with the extraordinary times we are living at the moment. Thanks Alan Pickles and Jane Chatterton for chasing me up and checking we are OK. I hear from Rita and Peter Barsby that South Craven Baptist Church have an online service each week so that must be keeping some folks in touch too. As I imagine all readers of this forum will be coping with wierd and uncomfortable times - Stay well - Stay safe !! |

Hi Allan, Since coming to live in Sutton some years ago, I follow the comments and information on the village website regularly. I always enjoy your comments and think back to the years we worked together, before the takeover, and I changed careers.
Since moving to Sutton, my wife and I have grown to love the village and its surroundings and have taken part and enjoyed many of the village activities. We both hope that when things improve life will become a little easier for all.

Brian, I'm glad that You enjoy my comments and view the website. Sorry but your name is not one that I remember from previous employment. Were you o the 1974 photos? If so which one, I may then be able to pin you down. I have all thirteen of those if you would like one then contact Paul for my address and got in touch. I will send you one on. All the best and thanks for getting in touch. |
