Dimensions of Lund's Tower
Hello!

I can't find the exact dimensions (or even rough dimensions) for Lund's Tower. I'd like to make a model of it on Sketch-Up for viewing Google Earth, but need an idea of size for accuracy.

Thanks, if anybody can help.

I haven't found anything documented about the dimensions but would guesstimate it to be 37 to 40 ft (11 to 12 metres) tall.

A very good gesstimate, Paul. The tower is 36 feet high (11m), ground to the top of the battlements. The base is 8 feet square (3.45m) from which the tower tapers very slightly to a protruding course of stonework at a height of 9 feet (2.75m) The tower then rises another 15 feet (4.570m) to a 'running' corbel that supports the parparet, which is 12 feet high (3.650m). The parapet itself is 9 feet square (2.75m).

Thank you very much! I'll get started on that then, hopefully I can do it well enough for seeing on Google Earth.

Here is what I've done with Lund's Tower -

It's at a funny angle because of the terrain from Google Earth. You have to make it so that it doesn't sink into the earth. I'm going to make it look a bit nicer, make some 3D stones and make the darker bricks larger as they are on the tower. I'm not sure of the process for submission for Google Earth ... I've got in the 3D warehouse so hopefully it'll be used.

After that I'll try the Pinnacle. I live in Salford but my parents live in Sutton. I visit as often as I can. I'd like to live there, or nearby, some day but finding a home and work and moving my whole life is hard. It's nice to be able to see the places I like in 3D on maps. I frequently go for Google 'walks' round the Sutton area!
