Orchestras or ensembles
Hi there, does anyone know of any orchestras or ensembles in the local area that I could join? I play flute to grade 7.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much for the quick replies. I'll look into Skipton music centre although I was hoping for an adult orchestra or ensemble. I'm used to orchestral but would try out folk, I think someone else mentioned folk music in the village. Do you know whether they would want a flute and whether they play music using notation or is it more improvised? Thanks again for your help! Hannah |

Hi Hannah,
I can advise that there are two military type bands in the area and I play with both,
Firstly The Yorkshire Volunteer Band based at Castleford
and
Secondly The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Band based at Bradford.
Both have there own websites and are busy with the Vols about to go to France in Feb and the WYFRS going to Canada later in the year. If I can be of any further assistance ref the bands please feelfree to ask.

Hi Hannah,
I play clarinets with Clitheroe Town Band and it may be worth asking re joining the flutes.
There is also the Bradford Metropolitan Concert Band, who are currently experiencing a renaissance under their new MD.
If you like a 'challenge' there is Skipton RBL Band, a corps of drums using Bb flutes, a 6-key instrument used in the military, together drums & bugles.
