Names
The Beckhams called one of their children Brooklyn; the Clintons called their daughter Chelsea - instances of parents naming their offspring after a place special to them.

I was surprised and pleased to learn from my Canadian friend, Vernon Spencer, that his newest grandchild, born on Tuesday 24th June, has been called SUTTON! Vernon's wife was Christine Wilcock who left Sutton in 1948 together with her parents and brothers to start a new life in Canada. Sadly she died a couple of years ago, but throughout her life Christine retained a great love and affection for the village where she was born - a love that has obviously been passed on to her children. She would have been delighted with the choice of name.

You never know Denis, young Sutton may end up meeting and marrying a Mr Craven or even a Mr Sutton ! Plenty of people around with those surnames.

Perhaps I should have made it clear that the grandchild referred to in my previous posting was male. Their family dog is called Craven!

Well Denis, I trust the young fella will NOT end up marrying a Mr Craven or a Mr Sutton, but in this day and age anything seems to be the go as Sir Elephant and David proved to the world.
