A House called Peacehaven?
Does anyone know of a house called Peacehaven in Sutton in Craven, a relative called Dorothy Bentley lived there in around 1940 - any information would be very much appreciated. |

Just when you think you have exhausted all leads for the moment out of the woodwork pops a new lead - I have discovered the Dorothy Bentley's last address in 1985/6 was Wood Ing, Cross Hills, Sutton in Craven - my Aunt thinks she may of been a bit of a recluse but this is not as far back as we thought we were looking so if anyone has any tales to tell please do - thank you. |

Hi Marian. I've done a search using the postcode finder at www.royalmail.co.uk and found the following address:
Wood Ing Church Road Sutton-in-craven KEIGHLEY BD20 7ER
I'm not familiar with the house name, but Church Road runs along the side of the Community Primary School off Bridge Road. If you type the postcode into any of the popular mapping sites you will be able to see where it is. It's near Eastfield Place, which also runs off of Bridge Road.
Hope this helps.

Hello Paul,
Once again thank you for the address and the aerial photo of this house I just didnt realise that Cross Hills and Sutton were so close together with the Park being in the background of this address it makes it quite a feasible move for a family and I was only looking at the School and its website the other day - it looks like a very interesting typical school building and holds a lot of memories for local people over the years.
As for Wood Ings, can you tell me what sort of house it is terraced cottage, semi would someone of Joseph's standing be able to afford a house like this do you think? Thank you for your time again.
