head up
There are still a good number of keys on the Ash trees in my yard and around the village. Even after we had some high winds at the end of January one gust I recorded well over 60 mph. This is more noticeable as they are a good autumnal brown when one is scanning the end of the twigs for a sign of the green shoots proclaiming of the end of winter.
Is this the norm, is there a reason that I don’t know about?

It is normal Terry. The trees will have maintained a little rising sap due to the very mild winter temperatures. I've seen them remain till spring!
