Barrie Pearce Sky Dives for Crosshill Football Club
Just to let everyone know that Barrie Pearce successfully completed his sky dive from 15,000 feet today and as a result has raised over £1500 to help Crosshill Football Club next season.
Barrie would like to thank everyone who sponsored him and would like to mention everyone who took part, including the other four assistant sky divers: Jack Pearce, Luke Dalby, Diane Macdonald and my good self! Also thanks to all the gang who came along to watch us fall out of the sky!!!

As a former team mate and being the same age, I can only express my
admiration , both for his sky dive and the £1500 he has raised. You
wouldn't get me up there for all the teabags in his kitchen at Crosshills
football club!! |

As I said there have been and still is alot of things on my list of things to do - but jumping out of an areoplane is not one of them - so masses of respect! x |

Congratulations Barrie - what a great video - even after all these years and your loss of reddish hair I can still recognise you, and even if not the looks then the voice would do it!.
The shots are incredible and the hand shakes mid air broght a tear to the eye - the ''touching you touching me' of Neil Diamond came straight to mind....
I have to agree with Neil though, you wouldn't get me up there for all the tea in Yorkshire. D'ya know, our local supermarket has just started selling 'Yorkshire Tea' in the nostalgic green packet with moors and cottages scenes. Next time in Sutton I should bring some for the club tea rooms. !!

Bloody hell Barrie (cousin), very well done. I can call you cousin cos we’re related somewhere along the ancestral tree. Damn, you don’t look any older now than you did when you were collecting insurance back in the late 60s, early 70s. Couldn’t see any sign of nerves Barrie, got Craven blood in ya that’s why! |

Taking you too far back !!! I don't think so,
What about the photo of 'I'll Dream Again' with the Eastburn Amateurs - you sitting proud as punch on the front row, and on a chair - obviously a status symbol reserved for special people and only supplied to two, the other being the shows producer I believe!!
Or - the photos of YPF in various moods. At our age it is difficult to remember too much detail but, this website has brought back to me some very good memories of Sutton and the people I grew up with. I have lived away from the village for nearly 50 years but like you, the village is a part of the soul, it is a very special place on this earth and the people brought up there are some of the 'salt' of this earth too. Your work with the soccer club is testament to that.
And then, there are the 'off-cumdens!'. From what I read on this website there are massive contributions made by a lot of people, but the core still seems to be the original villagers and their families and extended families.
Folks like you Barrie are keeping the village spirit alive and so are the various contributors to the website, not that I recognise them all but surnames seem to be the same anyway.
Thanks to you Nigel for sharing your special family time with us all and thanks Paul, as webmaster for making it possible.

Hi, it was interesting to hear about the Yorkshire Tea. I live in Arkansas USA and that it the only tea we drink, unfortlunately I have to order it on the internet, they do not sell it at the local stores. It is the best tea and I love the pictures on the package, it makes me homesick, I have been gone a long time, left in 1960, don't have many relatives left, but Christine Hardaker is my cousins daughter and also Aldyth Shaw is my cousins daughter, I know there are a few who remember me. I love the pictures and especially the one of the waterfall up clough, I used to walk there with my dog, especially after my sister Alma Ellison died. it was such a peaceful place. Please keep writing and submitting photos, I love it, |
