Andrew Monkhouse Hanoi, Vietnam Thursday, April 15, 2010 04:13	THE GALLERY Last night I guzzled a skin full of turps at my local boozer - beer, then red and eventually double vodka�s and woke up at 4.00am wide-eyed (amazed I was still alive) with a mouth like the Sahara Desert. Shortly after 4.00am I clicked onto the Sutton-in-Craven website and methodically re-visited every single photo and image in the gallery from the current date all the way back to pre-1900 (whilst rehydrating myself with 3 mugs of tea and 1.5L of water). Man there�s some good stuff on there. Paul (webmaster), I don�t know what sort of camera you have buddy but the shots you have taken in recent years are stunning � full moon rising over Sutton, Sutton snow, Sutton under a blanket of fog, sunset over Sutton, the Clough, the park trees (the trees, the trees. What a debate that was) Then there�s all the rest from school class photos, bonfires and gala�s (can�t seem to get my head around calling it �Fun day�) all the way back to pre-1900 with old postcards, photographs and pamphlets/programmes. I feast my eyes upon images of days long gone, Sutton and its residents captured in the moment and preserved for ever. The children of Sutton dancing around a Maypole in 1890, Main St completely traffic free, Sutton park opening gala, Lund�s Tower in the early 1900s (I suspect EVERY able bodied Suttoner since 1897 has climbed those 39 steps, or however many there are) This is how I know I�m getting old, not because my liver has turned a funny yellow colour, but as an ex-Suttoner I look at and contemplate these amazing images with nostalgia and with a degree of surrealism. I�ve said it before and I�ll say it again, this web-site is just the best.

They should be on line in the next few days. I agree with all you have to say about the website. I am a recent convert to the website and spend heaps of time just looking at the photos, old and new. There is a feast of information around and I like you appreciate it being made available to us all to look at and to wallow in nostalgia.

Arlene Wood Coventry Sunday, August 1, 2010 15:43	Hi everyone I was hoping to see a photo of The Gardener's Arms Inn in Sutton where my great uncle Robert Hall lived and worked in 1911. He lived with his wife Lily A.R. and baby daughter Edith. Can anyone provide me with any information at all? AND just to agree with previous comments ... this is a fantastic website. My mum's second cousin still lives in Sutton and I've found two school photos of his children on your website. Brilliant. My family has a long history there (Emmanuel & Eliza Hall). Another great uncle lived with them at 16 Ellen Road in 1911 along with his brothers Willie and Albert. Other names from the past - Albert & Annie Towers (Junction?). I think my mum actually lived in Holme Road in the early 1920s near her best friend Doris Clapperton. They went to school in Glusburn. Any information very gratefully received. Hope to visit Sutton soon - any recommendations to begin a search? ? ? Best wishes to all Arlene Wood
Josie Walsh Sunday, August 1, 2010 15:57	Hello If the webmaster checks out the book by Doris Riley, Owd settings Sutton in Craven, on page 34 there is a photo of the Gardeners Arms just before being demolished in May 1973.
