Sutton Putting Club Photo
Sitting on the left of the gentleman holding the cup is my grandfather, Charlie Pritchard. I understand he was a good putter - but as he was the park keeper he probably has time to put in some surreptious practce !!! |

What's the average age of this group? Bet it's over 75! And aren't they well dressed? Everyone wears a jacket and waistcoat, and everyone [bar two - the vicar and Charlie Pritchard], sports a collar and tie. I think that the thin faced man, second from the left on the back row might be Robert [Bob] Lowcock from Hazel Grove. He used to spend a lot of time on the putting green. |

The minister is The Rev. Bloyce Smith? who was at th Baptist Chapel before Mr. Buck. He was the poor chap that went up on the Gibb and took his own life. The second from the left on the back row is almost certainly Uncle Bob Lowcock. The big chap on the back row about four from the left used to work in the office at the mill. Always wore a trilby, I think his name was Harrison. |

Correction to the gentleman's name. Third from right ( as we look at it )on the back row. Edward Harrington. Was he the mill manager? If so, not only have I misnamed him but I have also demoted him. |

I took a copy of the putting club photo up to my parents when I was last in Sutton about a month ago. Just phoned them about your query about Eward Harrington & they are both fairly certain it is him & remember him always wearing a brown trilby. |
