NODISC - South Craven already a "town" in the eyes of CDC
Skipton is a market town settlement in Craven. Settle is a market town settlement in Craven.
It seems that CDC defines "South Craven" as a settlement that is smaller in size than Skipton but greater in size than Settle!
The following is taken from the minutes of a Craven Spatial Planning Sub-Committee meeting on 21 August 2008.
5.3 Location by settlement
a) Skipton has the greatest dwelling capacity (2600 dwellings) and 40.96 hectares of employment land.
b) South Craven has the second highest dwelling capacity (1877 dwellings) and 15.28 hectares of employment land.
c) Settle has a dwelling capacity of 595 and 4.63 hectares of employment land.
I can see no other way to interpret this than South Craven being the "settlement" created by joining together the three villages of Cross Hills, Glusburn and Sutton-in-Craven.
