To Jules - Woodburns Cafe & Dance Hall was a long wooden hut type building situated where Landis Lunds canteen is now - late 1930's - early 1940's (so I am told, I am too young to know!) - it was the "in place" to go, and was noted as the "copping on shop" of its day! My Dad only went the once, and 3 older people from Cowling were not even allowed to go!! (Den of iniquity)? Has anyone a photo? Also, the old people you are in contact with might like to see the Old Photos Galleries on both Cowling and Sutton sites, and if they have any related photos themselves, I am sure we would all be very pleased to see them if it is possible for you to scan and send them on via email. |
