THE ART OF PETER BOUSFIELD
The family and friends of Peter Bousfield, who tragically died in May this year, are to hold a ‘Retrospective Exhibition’ of his work at South Craven Baptist Church, Holme Lane, Sutton in Craven on Saturday 26th November 2016 from 10am to 4pm.
Peter was born in 1975 in Burnley but spent his entire life in Sutton where he attended South Craven School. He excelled at school and went to St. Andrew’s University to study Classics. However, he was always really keen on Art and it was obvious that he had a natural talent for painting and drawing. He also displayed extreme patience in painting in almost microscopic detail the white metal figures used in war gaming.
After a few weeks at St. Andrews he left determined to follow his desire to create works of art. Peter enrolled at Leeds college of Art to do his foundation year followed by a two-year stint at Craven College where he achieved a distinction in his Higher National Diploma.
He was always interested in the life outdoors and travelled widely in Europe, New Zealand and South America mainly by bicycle and motorcycle. This experience is very much reflected in his choice of subject. He did undertake a limited number of commissions demonstrating that he could paint or draw anything.
Peter always worked and could only paint part-time. He was a perfectionist and reluctant to display his Art. It is perhaps to our advantage that Peter put so much into each painting both in time and emotion that he was reluctant to part with them. It is these paintings therefore that form the core of the collection. We hope that by having the Exhibition and making available some limited edition prints we can ensure that his talent is more widely known and will live on.

ART EXHIBITION 26TH NOVEMBER 2016 AT SUTTON
We would like to thank all the lovely people who came to support us on Saturday at South Craven Baptist Chapel when we exhibited some of the Art created by our son Peter. The hall was full both on Friday night at the preview and all day Saturday. The turnout exceeded all our expectations. Through donations and sale of prints we have raised in the region of £6500 so far which is absolutely fabulous. We are going to liaise with Young Minds the lead charity in the 'Heads Together' Campaign supported by the Royal Foundation to make sure these funds really are used to improve mental health treatment of young people.
Particular thanks to Rob and Jan Harris for all their help and support at the church. Special thanks to Stuart and his team of digital printing magicians at Eve Printers at Snaygill. Thanks to Colin Sykes and Peter's friends who provided the muscle power and technical support for the setting up.
In conclusion we would like to say that although this year has been a very difficult year for us, the Exhibition has been a positive life enhancing experience, showing how much Peter was loved and that he will live on through his Art.
