Sutton Fields Bridge
I can remember in 1963 fishing on the downstream side of "1900" bridge as we knew it when the fishing season first open. You only required to have a "Rod license" as up stream was private fishing ( I can not recall which club - but there was a sign fixed to a tree in the wood facing the bridge) there was a deep pool at the base of weir where a couple brown trout resided. As soon as Kevin my elder brother and I cast out our floats hooks and bait - fresh worms dug from my Grandad's compost heap a couple of otters yes otters who lived under the bank at the other side came out and took the trout. |
