Scrapbooks.
Having had the pleasure of looking at the scrapbooks belonging to Stewart Wilson, I rang to arrange their return. Stewart wishes to offer them for viewing to anyone who is interested. Sorry Brenda, they are too large to fit in the postbox. Should anyone want to see them I can supply his 'phone number or/and address so that they can be collected. They really are fantastic. Alan. |

Anne, With information like this I don't need a scrapbook. The christian names are from an era after I left the village but the surnames conjure up many more memories. Currie, Cadwallader, French, Sharp and McIver all spring to mind from my days at the Council School. Others like Barrett and Monkhouse have always been to the fore and still figure. Thank you for putting the names to the photo, I'm sure that Paul will oblige if he has not done so already.

Hi Anne, well done on recalling all the names on the Sutton ladies footy team. Yes I remember the fund raising events from 1971 to help Kathleen Hart, although I never knew or met her.
As I recall it, she needed to travel to Leeds General Infirmary 3 times per week for kidney dialysis. The fund raising initiative was to enable her to buy a dialysis machine and have it installed at her home in Sutton, thereby eliminating the need for lengthy bus trips to the LGI several times per week.
I was at the primary school at the time and we (all the kids) did a sponsored walk to raise money towards buying this home dialysis machine for Kathleen. The sponsored walk itself involved walking around the inside perimeter fence of Sutton park 20 times! |
