A Christmas Thank you.
May I express my gratitude for the help I have received from Fil and Baz, 14 Main Street Sutton. They have helped me over an extremely bad time, and I welcome you as a family to the village. You are both an asset to the village community and I do hope we have more people like you, moving in.
Baz particular thanks to you for coming on Friday 28th Nov. What you said to the ‘Boss Man’ pertaining to the damage to my health and home had an immediate effect, responding in action to repair some of the most urgent damage. Most people are ‘all talk and no do.’ (A Yorkshire saying) It is a pleasure to meet a couple who can talk and follow through with positive action. Fil, thanks go to you for comforting me over the damage they had done to my mum’s memorial rose bed, also to Lydia Holdsworth for coming down in the freezing cold and chiselling off the waste cement they had poured over it. I stress, this was not vandalism by village youths, but workmen. Had it been youths the police would have taken action but adult builders do not fall into the same ‘vandalism’ category!
By tea-time, on that Friday, my leg had almost collapsed completely, again thank you for dashing to Keighley to pick up my computer and pay for it on my behalf, also for staying all evening to get it up and running.
Fil, I thank you personally on behalf of the villager who cannot communicate through her disability. I have known her many years and know also, that she would have been sat alone crying about the problem. Baz spotted her distress and patiently worked out what was wrong. Her energy bill had been raised £20 per month. You Fil, with your brilliant maths, got on your phone and dealt with it so efficiently I was amazed at the rapid speed you calculated in percentages exactly how much they had over charged her. (In the words that she cannot speak) the £11.00 a month you saved her will enable her to eat and stay warm throughout this winter, many, many thanks. I only know about this because you had brought me to your home for a drink and a rest, between getting me my food shopping.
Christmas is a time of giving. Most people think it is gifts from shops, you Baz and Fil, know it is the care of your fellow human beings, giving your own personal time, and your love.
God Bless you both.
