I had a look at the plan and if houses need to be built, that looks like the best place for them.

Dear All

On the plan is site SC40, which is the land off Sutton Lane (3 green fields) which many of us have just objected to the latest planning application. Luckily this one was withdrawn, but you can be sure it will recur. Please respond to the opportunity to comment on the Local Plan and all those who agree that Sutton Lane is NOT the place to build houses, please object strongly. The plan makes reference to local communities being offered the chance to save green spaces that are important to them. If SC40 remains on the plan, it is more susceptible to being built upon in the next few years. SC40 is suggested as accommodating approx. another 75 house or so. Don't we feel that Sutton has had enough over the last few years? (an additional 276 new homes over the last 14 years).

Keeping the two villages of Sutton and Eastburn separate, maintaining the gateway to our village, the fact that CDC have a SURPLUS of land for housing for the next 5 years (according to their recent housing supply statement), road safety on Sutton Lane, the site being of potential archaeological interest, overcrowded schools which local children are struggling to be accepted into, oversubscribed health services, loss of wildlife, sewer issues, drainage issues and houses being built on rising slopes which would not blend with the village but would damage the character of the village, are some of the valid objections you may like to mention.

I plan to prepare a leaflet to inform those villagers who may not use the internet, about the local plan, and the serious threat to the land off Sutton Lane, and distribute, so would appreciate some offers from people who feel as strongly as I do about this, and who would be willing to help posting them around the village. We managed around 1500 leaflets for the planning application, with some much appreciated help, but could do with some more volunteers please.

KEEP SUTTON A VILLAGE

Thankyou

Liz

Liz,
I have sent two emails regarding the Draft Craven Local Plan, mentioning the fields SC040, which should not be included in that plan for the reasons we mentioned when application 66/2014/14777 was submitted. How much notice will be taken from these emails, I don`t know, but we can but try.

Dear Liz,

I have also sent an e-mail to Julian Smith MP, trying to explain why he needs to object to fields SC040 being used for housing development. I was going to copy you in to that e-mail but I do not know your e-mail address.

Regards,

Stuart

Many thanks Stephen and Stuart.
Stuart, my email address is elizabethkildunne@yahoo.co.uk
Could you also object personally on the link that Paul has provided, as we need to show the voice of the people too. There is specific reference in the plan to preserving green spaces that are important to villages, so as well as the arguments we used to fight the latest application, we also need to show some passion and love for our village and its surrounding fields :-)

Best wishes

Hi Liz - I'd be happy to help distribute leaflets for a couple of hours, if that's any use to you. Before I lived in Sutton, I used to deliver a free paper and also leaflets door-to-door and so know it's possible to get quite a lot done in that time.

Kind regards,
Hazel
