Gordon St children
In front is Eileen Harper (Hobson) on the left with the tennis racket - Cathleen Harper(Morris) next to her. I think the girl behind Eileen is Lorraine Watson. I'm surprised David Harper wasn't there as he and Michael were good mates.

I think the boy in the middle on the back row may be Graeme Watson the brother of Lorraine Watson as I used to go to school with both of them but not 100% sure.

Michael was indeed and still is mates with Jess Harper and Margarete you are right i have spoken to my brother and he tells me that Graeme Watson sat next to him at primary school and it would have been him. Having had a look round there this morning I think the house is the bottom one in King Edward Street.

I rather think the photo will be on the steps to number 3 King Edward St, (our house) it would make sense as the bottom one was the home of Alec Thompson, of coal, coach and taxi services...... I wonder if the remaining name is Shirley Towers who lived a couple of doors further up, however she was usually with her brother Michael. Maybe some other web reader might know.

Hi Brenda, You are right Having spent another evening skulking round King Edwards St with my friend Yvonne We have verified that it is indeed number 3. Not sure if they have a neighbourhood watch scheme round there now but if they have we expect a knock from the local bobby any moment.

Thanks for the new photo Jean added April - I have a similar one which also has Miss Jessie in it - the children are sitting on the wall of the Whitaker's (Raymond, Miss Maggie and Miss Jessie) back yard in the back street of King Edward and Gordon streets - Miss Jessie loved having the children there. The two girls on the right are Eileen and Cathleen Harper and David is standing in front. I cant remember the dark haired girl's name - Angela ? I think. As we lived directly opposite all our family spent time there with other children from the street.
