Sutton Pinnacles Fell Race
Congratulations to the 20+ people who ran from Sutton Park up to the Salt and Pepper Pots, on to the Hitchingstone and back again. Especially those who completed the Leeds 10km run this morning!

Amazing times for this fell race, three under the 40 minute mark.
I feel it would take me longer than this if I drove to & from the two pinnacles + Hitchingstone!
Pretty sure my cousin Ian Monkhouse won this particular race in the late 70s (before he started smoking). He certainly came in the top 3 |

That's interesting, Andrew. I wonder if there are any records of those races? |

Yes I was wondering the same thing, whether records exist of previous races.
Sutton to the pinnacles fell race has definitely been an event in days gone by. I’m not sure whether it’s been a continuous annual occurrence or a spasmodic ‘once in a while’ thing.
Hopefully we’re about to find out…….Denis, Alan, Tony, David…….

Hi all, I remember them happening but that's all. Was there also a Knur and spell annual comp up on the moors? I reckon Tony I would have an idea. |

Following on from Paul Longbottom's link on another topic to the British Pathe site, here's some Knurr and Spell footage from 1933.
