Death of Jean Smith
Jean Smith, previously of 2 Hall Way, Sutton, has passed away at Oakfield House Residential Home. The funeral will be at 1.45pm on Tuesday 9th July at Sutton Baptist Church. Refreshments afterwards at the Pavilion Tea Room. Donations to the care staff at Oakfield House on the day, or afterwards to David Gallagher Funeral Directors, Utley. All who wish to remember Jean are most welcome. |

I knew your mum was living in Residential care and I'm sorry to hear that she has now passed away. I always had a lot of respect for both your mum and dad, please accept my condolences buddy.

Hi Andrew--thanks very much for your message--it's mum's funeral today. Great to hear from you after soooooo long :-) Well, you lived your dream and made it to Oz--excellent! Have you still got all your Beatles LPs, and have you run away to London lately--ha ha? :-) I live in the Cotswolds now with my lovely partner Terri and I don't do computers much,I'm a builder! but if you're ever coming to the UK, put a post on here to let me know, and it'd be great to meet up :-) Cheers. Hi Gary, yes your mum’s funeral is today the 9th July probably taking place now as I type this message. In somewhat of a coincidence, my mum died on the 9th July 1978, 35 years ago today.
So you’re living in the Cotswolds, very nice and somewhat of another coincidence in that Cotswold Ave was my last UK home address before I emigrated to Oz 19 years ago this month in 1994. Most probably leaving very soon though for new horizons, the bright lights of Brazil sound pretty good or somewhere in Asia. 19 years in Oz is enough for me!
No, only ran away to London the once which seemed like a cool thing to do at 14. It was the ‘silent treatment’ from my dad for the entire 5 hour journey back up the M1 that was unbearable. I just wanted whatever was coming to me to be over and done with, hanging, flogging or whatever it was going to be. Not the ‘knitted eyebrow’ psycho stare all the way back to Yorkshire. Great fun though wasn’t it, hitch-hiking to London!
Yes I’m still a Beatleaholic with all my LPs but no turntable to play them on!
Well your mums funeral will be over by now, I'll raise a glass of red in memory and also celebration of her life, our mums were the best buddy.

Hello gary sorry to hear about your mum, always remember your mum and dad have a chin wag with mine when you lived at 38 main street.
