Hi Brenda , The soldier whose knee you were sat on is John Hindle who I played cricket at Cowling with , the one you think is Margaret Thompson I think is Margaret Davy who lived up Baxter Wood, and now lives in Embsay. Back right the man in glasses looks like Dorothy Bottomley's brother Alec, but no doubt someone will put me right |

Neil, The chap on the back row rattling his medals (in between two ladies) is, Ithink, Barry Stirk from Steeton. He was a baritone and sang with the Steeton Male Voice Choir for a good number of years. As you say, No doubt someone will put me right if I am wrong. |

Hi Neil and Alan - John Hindle certainly rings a bell and so does Barry Stirk so thanks for that gentlemen. I am absolutely sure you are correct Neil about Margaret Davy, The surname Thompson kept popping into my head but I was obviously confused with my next door neighbour in King Edward St. I cant say about Alec Bottomley, I sort of remember him but my memory is dim so i will defer to your recollection and leave it to someone else to confirm or deny. Neil - please say hi to your Jean for me.

Having looked hard and long at the Eastburn Amatuers photo and considering the year that the show took place, I don't think that it is Alec Bottomley. Alec would have been only 14 atthe time, younger than anyone else in the picture. The gent concerned is more mature than that. Barrie Pearce is a youngster compared to him and he would be 16 plus at that time. As you say Neil. If I'm wrong then....... |
