Bradford Met's Newsletter "Community Pride"
I have a "bee in my bonnet" at the moment about us in Cowling having Bradford Met's newspaper "Community Pride" posted through our letterboxes, and also their A-Z Council Services booklet last week! I have complained 2 or 3 times already about Bradford wasting their funds on us who are not in their area - do Sutton also get them, or is it just us with the BD 0-- postcode? |

Hi Joan
Im involved in marketing for a private company. Going off what we do for our clients I presume Bradford council book their distribution as you suspected for the BD20 area and yes, and unfortunately that does include us in Sutton.
If they do book the distribution by Royal mail they can narrow it down though to BD20 6, BD20 7 etc etc but I would imagine Royal Mail may be too expensive for them to use?
Hope this helps. |

Thanks for interest. Got my letter on this in Kly. News, and Bradford Met. replied (again) saying it was cheaper to distribute that way (cheaper, but how many copies are they sending out to Craven District - surely the good quality paper and the printing of them can't be cheaper)? Do wonder if any other Craven villages are getting them, or do they go straight in the "recycle" bins and recipients don't really notice? |

Hi Joan
From a cost point of view if Bradford are running 100K printed items (for example) an extra 10k is not expensive and has a minimal cost once a job is running on the print press.
Just for info if the council simply target BD20 as an area as a whole there are 15,319 residential homes. This obviously covers homes both in Bradford and Craven districts. Hence why we get this useless bit of Bradford propaganda.
Just think of how we are helping Craven councils recycling figures if we put all the Bradford stuff in our paper bins!
Reading the Bradford stuff does make me glad I moved to Sutton though!

As a Bradford rate payer I can only say that I am just as concerned as you if not more so, about the cost involved and the complete disregard for the ratepayers' money. This seems to be the way of things at present. (It isn't our money so why bother. ) Do all Politicians lose their integrity and more important, their common sense when they get elected? Send it back, it might help block the City end of the new canal or form a lining for the new pond in the City centre. On second thoughts, keep it with the compliments of Bradford Council and just hope that Craven Council don't jump on the band wagon. You could always consider taking legal action and claim that your rights have been violated by having to read it. Our communal recycling bins are full of them. |
