old school pics from the 1970s and 80"s
Does anyone happen to have any old school pics from sutton c of e or council school from the 1970s or 80"s ? and if so would they be so kind as to scan them and send to this web site.
i attended the c of e school from 68 to 75 but i can never recall any form photos being taken at this time, just individual photos
would be interested to know if anyone has any class group photos from the 1970"s
i have seen loads of class pictures from the 1940"s up to the 1960"s on here but nothing from the late 60"s onwards

Hi Graham, I may be wrong on this fact but I have a feeling that group photos at the Council School stopped being taken after 1965. Not sure about the Church School. Maybe not enough people were buying them and it was not viable to produce them.
Reason I say this is because I popped into the Council School office in 1997 to inquire about this very subject. I was shown a box, or a couple of boxes, of school photos dating back decades.
The last group photos I could find in the boxes were taken in 1964, although there are now a couple of photos from 1965 in the gallery. This is why there is a gap in the gallery from this date onwards. But like you mention, individual photos were still taken on a yearly basis after 1965.
At some stage however, group photos for each class did make a resurgence. Not sure when this was though, maybe the 1990s. I think it’s a great shame that this apparent decision was made to take individual school photos only during this period of time.
Even when I was at South Craven School from 1971 – 1976, I wasn’t involved in any group photos during these years. I may have been smoking round the back of the Rural Studies potting shed if and when they were being taken, but I’m 99% sure it was individual photos only. |

Hi I started SCS in 1975 and we had one group picture taken at the start of that year and that was,. Don't remember haveing picture taken again. Can't help with the CofE pic's though. |

i was at South Craven in the late sixties (67-69)1st form and then to 2.4 and 3.2 and can't remember any photos being taken, (probably behind the potting sheds too) have a few school football pix but thats all i have to show from my school years and most of my friends are the same |
