T & M Bairstow correspondence 1907 With thanks to Yvonne Salt (nee Davy) and Jean McClennon (nee Bailey).
Notes from Yvonne Salt
The crockery design was found in a very detailed and comprehensive file, West Yorkshire Archive Services Bradford Ref WYB24/9, covering the quotes, tenders, costings and invoices for many items covering the building and furnishing of the Sutton Institute and baths. The file made very interesting reading - problems cutting the tiles to fit the stairs, the clock purchased from Fattorini & Sons, sketches of tables, and only the best billiard tables.
I was very pleased to find an invoice from my Great Grandfather, Wilson Davy, in this file. I was also
pleased to see that Wilson chased the balance owing. It seemed to be common practice for T & M Bairstow's accountant
to knock off 10% plus before paying for anything!
The business card was found in the same file, the signature reads W C Gordon.
